Hi,

I need urgent help recovering access to my long-time Hotmail account .

I don't remember my password, l reset my mobile, my account has two-step verification (2FA) enabled, I can no longer approve by sign-ins or access recovery options. The system keeps asking for authentication through the app.

I do have two mobile numbers connected to hotmail account and when i request code thru mobile, it stop sending code now.

This email account is very old and is linked with several important platforms. I’ve already submitted multiple recovery requests using the account.live.com/acsr form, but I keep getting no response.

I understand Microsoft’s security policies; however, I’m hoping for some guidance or escalation from the support team or community experts on how to proceed when 2FA is enabled with access thru Authenticator lost, I do have mobiles connected to account.

Any advice, official process, or next steps would be deeply appreciated. This account is extremely important to me, and I am willing to provide verification details or identification proof to confirm ownership.

Thank you very much for your time and understanding.

regards,

Ravinder

For a personal Hotmail/Microsoft account with two-step verification enabled, the account recovery form does not restore access when the Authenticator approval method is no longer available.

    What is supported:

    1. Start with the Sign-in Helper and follow the prompts for the account.
    2. If the account still offers other verification methods, choose another method instead of repeated Authenticator attempts.
    3. If SMS codes to the two phone numbers have stopped arriving, avoid repeated requests. Repeated requests can trigger a temporary block.
    4. Try these recovery steps for blocked verification:
      • switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or try a different Wi-Fi network
      • wait at least 24 hours before trying again
      • if still blocked, wait longer, up to 1 week, without repeated attempts
    5. If the account asks to verify or replace security info, complete that process. Do not change all security info at the same time, because the account may be restricted for 30 days.
    6. If verification codes are not arriving, another method may be required, or waiting until access to a listed phone or email is available.
    7. For technical support, use Contact Microsoft Support and select Get Help, then Contact Support. Support can route to the best option, but support agents cannot send password reset links, send verification codes, or change account details.

    Important limits:

    • If two-step verification is enabled and none of the alternate verification methods can be accessed, support agents cannot bypass it.
    • Support agents are not allowed to send password reset links, send verification codes, or access and change account details.
    • The repeated ACSR/account recovery form route is not the effective path for this 2FA-lost-access scenario.
