Thanks, but this did not work.. I followed your suggestions and after selecting the command prompt I am directed to a screen to "Choose an account to continue". there is only one option - Len Sutton (my name), and when I select that account I am then required to "enter the password for this account". But I don't remember what password I originally used for this PC.

Is it linked to any Microsoft Account? Is there an option called 'I forgot my password"? If there is, click on it and follow the on-screen instructions.

You can turn on an Administrator account by doing these steps:

• On the Lockscreen, click on the power icon and while holding Shift press Restart, A menu should appear later.
• Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt then type in these commands seperately.

    net user Administrator /active:yes
    net user Administrator <yourpassword>
  

  Note: Replace <yourpassword> with the password you desire to put on the Administrator account.
• Log into the Administrator account.
• Do Win + R and type in compmgmt.msc and press Enter.
  • Go to System Tools > Local Users and Groups > Users
  • Right click the user you desire, and click on Set Password

Alternatively, you can open command prompt as Administrator and run:

net user <username> <newpassword>

Note: Replace <username> with your actual username which can be shown in compmgmt.msc, and replace <newpassword> with a new password you desire to put.

Make sure you set the new Administrator account with a password to reduce security risks.
