When you go to https://account.live.com, did this screen pop up? If so, it means your account's dob is set to be a minor's birthday.

    User's image

You want to choose "I am a parent or guardian", then sign into a different Microsoft account whose date of birth indicating an adult user. If you don't have one you can use, you can create a new one just for this purpose for now. It will prompt you to sign in, and give your account consent, and join your family group. Once joining the new account's family group, go to https://account.live.com/mykids.aspx sign in with the new account (adult one), you should see your "child" account listed. Click on "Edit this child's personal info" And it will let you update the date of birth for this child user.

Once updated, you can then use the "Remove consent for this child's account", then go back to the family safety page, click on this child account and choose "remove from family group".

This is usually a sign-in or consent loop. Try these steps in order:

    1. Open a private browsing window and do the entire sign-in flow there.
      • In Microsoft Edge, use InPrivate with Ctrl + Shift + P.
      • Keep the original window open when the code prompt appears.
    2. If the verification code is being sent to another Microsoft account, open a second private window and sign in to that account there.
      • Get the code from the second window.
      • Return to the first window and enter the code.
      • This avoids one Microsoft account signing the other out during verification.
    3. If the page keeps showing parent/guardian or child, try the consent flow again in one clean private session.
      • Browser session or cookie issues can cause the consent page to loop.
      • If possible, try a different browser or device.
    4. Check whether the account is still treated as a child account in Microsoft Family.
      • Using an adult Microsoft account, go to the Family page and confirm the account is listed correctly.
      • If needed, remove the account and add it back, then try the consent process again.
    5. If the account no longer has access to the listed verification methods, select I don't have any of these during sign-in and follow the prompts to replace the security info.
    6. If repeated attempts triggered a temporary block, stop retrying for a while.
      • Wait at least 24 hours.
      • If needed, wait longer, up to 1 week.
      • Avoid repeated attempts, because that can reset the time lock.
    7. If the account is blocked on a specific verification method, try another method or another network.
      • For example, switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data.
      • Or use an alternate email instead of SMS, if available.

If the goal is account deletion, that cannot be completed from this sign-in loop guidance. The account must first be accessed successfully.
