A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
To finish removing all files from OneDrive, use this sequence carefully.
- Stop sync first so deleted files do not come back:
- Right-click the OneDrive cloud icon in the taskbar.
- Select Settings.
- Go to Accounts.
- Select Unlink this PC.
- Delete the files from OneDrive on the web:
- Sign in to onedrive.com.
- Open My Files.
- Select the tick box at the top of the file list to select files.
- Uncheck any shared folders and your personal vault.
- Select Delete.
- If shared folders appear as shortcuts, select them and choose Remove shortcut.
- Permanently remove them from the cloud:
- Open the OneDrive Recycle bin.
- Select Empty Recycle bin.
- Confirm with Yes.
- Remove the local OneDrive folder from the PC if no files are needed there:
- Open File Explorer.
- Right-click the OneDrive folder.
- Select Delete.
- Optional: uninstall OneDrive from Windows:
- Go to Settings > Apps > OneDrive > Uninstall.
Important:
- This permanently removes all OneDrive files.
- If files were shared with other people, deleting them makes that content unavailable to them.
- Files deleted from the OneDrive recycle bin cannot be recovered.
- There can be a short delay before freed storage appears in the account.
An image is not needed to complete the remaining steps because the documented process above is the supported path.
