Accessing Microsoft Teams using organizational or personal credentials
If you're getting Teams error code 4usqa, the issue is often not your password. This error can be related to a Microsoft 365 / Microsoft Entra ID authentication or service configuration issue, which may prevent Teams from signing in even when the password is correct.
To help narrow down the cause, could you please confirm whether you are experiencing the issue in the Teams desktop app or when accessing Teams through a web browser?
Then, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
1.Test Teams on the web
- Open an InPrivate/Incognito browser window.
- Go to Microsoft Teams on the web.
- Sign in using your work or school account.
- If sign-in works in the browser but not in the desktop application, the issue is likely related to the local Teams client or cached credentials.
2.Sign out of other Microsoft accounts
- Sign out of Teams and other Microsoft 365 applications on the device.
- Close all Teams and Microsoft 365 applications completely.
- Reopen Teams and sign in using only the affected work account.
3.Reset the new Teams app
- Go to Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Microsoft Teams.
- Select … > Advanced options.
- Select Repair first.
- If the issue remains, select Reset and then try signing in again.
4.Clear Teams cached data
- Close Microsoft Teams completely.
- Press Win + R and enter: %userprofile%\appdata\local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams
- Delete the contents of the folder.
- Restart the computer and try signing in to Teams again.

5.Clear Microsoft/Teams credentials
- Open Credential Manager from Windows Control Panel.
- Select Windows Credentials.
- Remove credentials related to Microsoft, Office, Teams, or Microsoft 365.
- Restart the computer and try signing in again.
6.Check with your Microsoft 365 administrator
The administrator can verify whether the Microsoft Information Protection API service principal is enabled and whether any Microsoft Entra Conditional Access policies are blocking the sign-in.
