I have unistalled MS Office from the old laptop. Every advised solution ends in a loop without resolution.

If you have an active Microsoft 365 subscription, that licence should have become associated to your Microsoft Account as a digital licence online and it is from there that you can re-install Office without the need for a product key:
When you log into the link I provided, do you not see the two options below to use either to install Office on your device.

You have a Microsoft 365 Basic subscription, that subscription only entitles you to 100GB of OneDrive storage and the use of the free Office apps in a web browser, you cannot download and install the Office apps on your PC.
It is only the Microsoft 365 Personal and Microsoft 365 Family subscriptions that include installing the Office apps on your PC.
Thanks Dave but I'm confused. It was installed on the old laptop so why can't it transfer to the new one. The subscription remains constant throughout.
The Microsoft 365 Basic subscription would never allow you to install the Office apps on your PC, the previous device may have come with a pre-installed version of Office.

When I go into https://account.microsoft.com/services I see that I have a subscription but cant see what to do next. It |offers download Windows 11 but that comes pre-installed.
In your replies to Dave, I see that you have only found a Microsoft 365 Basic subscription, and that license can't be used if you want to install the Office apps on your PC. If you scroll down the page, do you not see any other version, such as Office 2024? Which specific product did you use on your older (previous) computer?
