How can I permanently remove the “Upgrade your plan” button from Microsoft 365 apps?

Hi,

I already have an active paid Microsoft 365 subscription for several years, but Excel now permanently displays a very visible “Upgrade your plan” button in the title bar (in french "Mettre à niveau votre plan")

Is there any supported way to permanently hide or disable this button?

I have no interest in upgrading my subscription and I find it particularly annoying to have a permanent commercial solicitation inside software I already pay for.

Ideally, Microsoft 365 should provide an option to:

permanently hide this “Upgrade your plan” prompt;
remember a “Don’t show again” choice;
or disable promotional/upsell messages entirely across Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

I would simply like to use the applications I am already paying for without being repeatedly encouraged to purchase a more expensive plan.

If there is currently no way to disable this, I would also appreciate confirmation of that.

I understand that Microsoft may want to promote higher-tier plans, but when this kind of messaging becomes a permanent part of the interface, it starts to feel intrusive for long-time paying customers who are simply trying to work with the tools they already subscribe to. I would really appreciate any guidance, workaround, or official setting that could restore a cleaner, distraction-free experience in Office apps.

I have to admit I was actually quite pleased when I received the email notification saying that someone had answered my question.

Unfortunately, after reading the reply, it seems to be essentially the same answer that the Microsoft Q&A AI had already generated for me immediately after I posted my question; and this seems not working :( (will retry it later)

So, thank you — and thanks to the AI as well. 🙂

I posted here precisely because I was hoping to hear from an actual person, ideally someone with first-hand experience of this issue or who has genuinely found a way to permanently remove the “Upgrade your plan” button.

If anyone has managed to disable it in practice, I would still be very interested to hear how.

There is no working method, setting or registry hack available to remove the 'Upgrade your Plan' notification on the top of the Office apps, many people have been asking how to remove that for the last couple of months.

The best option is to open Word, click Help - Feedback and suggest to the Office developers they provide a setting to remove that annoyance on the top bar of the Office apps.

This is pure harassment by Microsoft. I already have a paid plan and I don't want to pay extra. I hope these kinds of nudges will eventually be prohibited by law. It's so rude that I wouldn't pay for it now even if I needed it
