Bluetooth Buds not recognised

As of yesterday I could not reconnect my Redmi 4 or Redmi 6 lite buds to my pc. I am running Win11 pro on a Gigabyte B760 Gaming X AX mobo with an intel i7-14700k processor with 32 GB ram. Both sets of buds will connect to other devices (phones). I have reloaded the intel drivers and reset the buds but the pc does not recognise them when searching for new devices. Where do I go from here?

Since the buds still connect to phones and the Intel drivers were already reloaded, focus on Windows 11 Bluetooth discovery and pairing on the PC.

  1. Run the Windows Bluetooth troubleshooter first.
  2. Confirm Bluetooth is actually on in Windows 11.
    • Check Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices and make sure Bluetooth is on.
    • Also check Quick Settings from the taskbar and confirm Bluetooth is enabled.
    • If the motherboard has a physical wireless/Bluetooth control, make sure it is enabled.
  3. Put the earbuds back into pairing mode and keep them close to the PC.
    • The device must be in pairing mode and within range.
    • Since the buds work with phones, make sure they are not actively connected elsewhere when trying to pair with the PC.
  4. Change Bluetooth discovery to show all device types.
    • Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices.
    • Under Device settings > Bluetooth devices discovery, change it to Advanced.
    • Search again for the earbuds.
  5. Remove any old entry for the earbuds and add them again.
    • Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
    • If either Redmi device is listed, select More options (...) > Remove device.
    • Then select Add device and try pairing again.
  6. Check Airplane mode.
    • Press Windows + A and make sure Airplane mode is off.
    • Airplane mode disables Bluetooth.
  7. Check for Windows updates.
    • Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update.
    • Select Check for updates and install anything available.
    • Some Bluetooth drivers are delivered through Windows Update.
  8. Update the Bluetooth adapter driver from Device Manager.
    • Open Device Manager.
    • Expand Bluetooth.
    • Right-click the Bluetooth adapter and select Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
    • Restart the PC if prompted.
  9. If Windows does not find a newer driver, install the Bluetooth driver from the PC or motherboard manufacturer.
    • The documented guidance is to get the latest Bluetooth driver from the manufacturer website when Windows cannot find one.
    • Restart after installation and test discovery again.
  10. If Bluetooth itself is missing or grayed out anywhere, treat it as a Bluetooth adapter issue rather than an earbud issue.
  • In that case, use the Bluetooth disappeared steps: run the troubleshooter, update the Bluetooth driver, verify Airplane mode is off, and install Windows updates.

The most relevant next steps for this case are Bluetooth discovery = Advanced, remove old Redmi pairings, run the troubleshooter, and check Windows Update plus Device Manager driver update.
