Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Hi @Tara Bova
Since your district does not currently use Microsoft products, the first step is establishing a Microsoft 365 Education tenant, as Minecraft Education licenses are managed through Microsoft accounts.
For a school or district, there are two primary licensing options:
1/Direct Purchase
- Qualified educational organizations can purchase Minecraft Education subscriptions directly.
- The current education pricing is listed as $5.04 USD per user per year (annual commitment).
- School administrators typically complete the purchase and then assign licenses to educators and students through the Microsoft 365 admin center.
2/Volume Licensing
- Schools can also purchase Minecraft Education through Microsoft's Volume Licensing program.
- A Microsoft education licensing partner can help determine the most appropriate agreement and purchasing model for your district.
For the next steps, I recommend you to do the following:
- Review the Minecraft Education licensing information here: https://education.minecraft.net/en-us/licensing
- Work with your district's administration to subscribe to a Microsoft 365 Education environment if one does not already exist.
I hope this information helps.
