About the "Allow" button that appears when accessing OneDrive from Microsoft Edge

For about two months now, when accessing OneDrive from Microsoft Edge, the following "Allow" button appears:

In our impression, it is the impression that it is displayed at the first start of the day.

I press this button every time, and it always appears the next day.

If anyone knows how to prevent this button from appearing, we apologize for the inconvenience, but please let us know.

    Hi @Warren Elise,

Thank you for sharing the details.

To better understand the situation, may I confirm a few points first?

    1. Is the “Allow” section you mentioned similar to a permission prompt from Microsoft Edge, such as a site permission request for Clipboard, Location, Notifications, or another permission?
    2. Could you please share a screenshot of the prompt, if possible? Please make sure to hide any personal or organization information.
    3. Are you using a normal Edge window, or are you using InPrivate browsing? InPrivate browsing may not keep some browsing data and site permissions after the session is closed.
    4. Is this a company-managed device? If yes, some browser or organization policies may reset permissions regularly.

In the meantime, you can try checking the site permission setting for OneDrive in Microsoft Edge as the AI recommended:

    1. Open OneDrive in Microsoft Edge.
    2. Select the lock icon or site information icon on the left side of the address bar.
    3. Select Permissions for this site or Site settings. User's image
    4. Check whether the permission related to the prompt is set to Allow instead of Ask.
    5. You can also open Edge settings and go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Site permissions to review the saved permissions for the OneDrive site.
    6. Check the Pop-ups and redirects. User's image
    7. After changing the setting, reload OneDrive and check whether the prompt appears again.

If the same Allow button still appears every day, please also check whether Edge is configured to clear cookies, site data, or permissions when the browser closes, or whether your organization manages these settings through policy.

If I have misunderstood any part of your situation, please feel free to clarify. I want to make sure I fully understand your setup so I can provide the most accurate guidance.

Thank you again for your time and understanding.  I really appreciate your patience, and I’m here to help. Looking forward to your response.

This prompt is most likely related to cookies or site permissions in Microsoft Edge. A supported way to reduce repeated prompts is to allow the required cookie behavior for Microsoft sites used by OneDrive and Microsoft 365.

    Try these steps in Edge:

    1. Open Settings and more > Settings.
    2. Go to Site permissions > Cookies and site data.
    3. Turn on Allow sites to save and read cookie data (recommended).
    4. Make sure Block third-party cookies is turned off.
    5. In the same window, under Allow, select Add and add these sites:
      • microsoft.com
      • microsoftonline.com
    6. If the prompt is tied to a temporary cookie/site-data permission, check whether Edge is storing a temporary allowance that expires after 30 days. Temporary allowances can be removed or re-created under Settings and more > Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Cookies > See all cookies and site data.

If the button is specifically a pop-up permission prompt, add the site to the pop-up allow list:

    1. Go to Settings and more > Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
    2. Select Site permissions > All permissions.
    3. Open Pop-ups and redirects.
    4. Under Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects, select Add site and add the affected OneDrive or Microsoft 365 URL.

If it still appears every day, also check whether browser data is being cleared at close, because that can cause Edge to ask again for permissions or site data.
