I appear to have two accounts and only require one

Hi

Further to the recent change in my Microsoft subscription,  it transpires that I appear to have a duplicate licence.

In January this year (2026), I automatically renewed an already active Microsoft licence purchased through Curry's in Kilmarnock at a cost of £84.99.  I have just read the T&Cs and it appears that this licence covers me for six items and one TB of storage.

The reference of this licence is DIC-786258.  It was activated on 12 Jan 2026.  The model is noted as M365 PER 12M AR.   It is noted as product code 743699  (Office Software), and originally purchased for £29.99 on 30 Nov 2024 at the same time that I purchased a new laptop.  I queried the increase in licence cost with Curry's in February this year and was advised that this licence was required for the Microsoft package that was loaded to my laptop.

It appears therefore that I have a licence that I do not require.

I would appreciate if someone could investigate and advise.

Name: Mr M S Stepney

Thanks

Regards

A Microsoft account can have only one active Microsoft 365 for home subscription associated with it. If the same Microsoft 365 subscription is bought or redeemed again on the same Microsoft account, it normally extends the subscription term for up to 5 years. It does not add extra device sign-ins or extra storage.

To check whether there are actually two different subscriptions or the same subscription renewed/extended:

    1. Go to the Services & subscriptions page.
    2. Sign in with the Microsoft account used for the Microsoft 365 purchase.
    3. Review what is listed:
      • If only one Microsoft 365 subscription appears, the later purchase likely extended the existing subscription.
      • If a second subscription appears under a different Microsoft account, sign in to that account and review it there.
      • If the subscription was purchased through a third-party retailer, selecting Manage can take the account to that retailer’s site for management.

If one subscription is no longer needed, use Manage and cancel the unwanted subscription. If eligible, refund handling depends on where it was purchased. The context also notes that if the purchase was made through a third-party retailer, management is handled through that retailer.

If the issue involves two separate Microsoft accounts and help is needed identifying or cancelling the unwanted subscription, contact support.
