I was unable to log in to my edu email account a week ago and lost access to my email and OneDrive. The error message is as follows:

Request Id: [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]

Correlation Id: [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]

Timestamp: 2026-08-13T16:08:04Z

Message: AADSTS500022: Access to the tenant is denied.

App name: Microsoft Office 365 Portal

Device platform: Windows 10

Additionally, after contacting the network center of the edu organization, it was confirmed that they had not been granted organizational administrator permissions.

Hi, BabybooHN. Thank you for your answer.

The highest-level school administration I was able to contact informed me that they do not have the necessary authority, so I am unable to reach “the Global Administrator or Central IT Services of your school/university” as you mentioned.

I have very important personal project files in my OneDrive, and my account was suddenly disabled before I had a chance to back up anything. How can I find out who the tenant administrators are, or how can I contact the global administrator for my tenant to resolve this issue?

    Dear @Bq

The error code AADSTS500022: Access to the tenant is denied means that Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) has blocked access to your educational institution’s tenant. This typically occurs when Microsoft suspends, disables, or restricts an entire organization's tenant most commonly due to expired licensing, non-payment, a violation of Microsoft service terms, or an administrative tenant lock.

Since this restriction is applied at the Microsoft tenant level, individual users cannot fix or bypass this error from their own devices or account settings.

User's image Please refer to this document: Microsoft Entra authentication and authorization error codes

Because your local network center mentioned they do not have organizational administrator permissions, you will need to escalate this issue to the Global Administrator or Central IT Services of your school/university.

Only a Global Administrator of your tenant can resolve this issue by logging into the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or Microsoft Entra Admin Center. They must:

    • Check the account/tenant status under Health > Service health or Billing > Licenses.
    • If the tenant itself is locked or disabled, the Global Admin must open a technical support request with Microsoft Support directly to request tenant restoration and data recovery.

Please note that the Microsoft Support team will require verification steps to confirm ownership and administrative access before proceeding with any tenant recovery actions.

For more information about the issue, please review the official documentation: Troubleshoot inaccessible tenants - Microsoft Entra | Microsoft Learn

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to let me know.
