Is there a limit to the number of participants in a Teams meeting?

If anyone plans to use breakout rooms during the meeting, please note that creating breakout rooms automatically caps the meeting at 300 participants, which would be well below your expected attendance.

If you expect to exceed 1,000 participants, there are two paths:

1. Enable the view-only large meeting experience through the Teams Admin Center (meeting policies). This lets additional attendees beyond 900–1,000 join in a watch-only capacity, scaling up toward 10,000.
2. Use a Teams Webinar or Town Hall event format instead of a standard meeting. These are built for larger one-to-many audiences, with Town Halls supporting up to 10,000–20,000 attendees.
