Hi,
I have recently acquired new machines for my children, with the associated Microsoft accounts with the objective of playing some Minecraft together. I have setup the Microsoft accounts as children, bought as a gift Minecraft from my account for my children. I created Xbox tags for both children as well as a Minecraft handle. I created a family group of which I am the organiser and where I can see both child accounts.
Once all the accounts setup, I booted the computers, opened Minecraft to try to run a LAN game, but found out that Minecraft prevented access to the Multiplayer menu for both of my children, because of their Microsoft account settings.
I spent time following the recommendation of this page: https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/24302916594701, without any success. I further spent quite some time doing some back and forth with the AI support on the Xbox family setting page to ensure that both children had the proper authorisations to play online games.
The children accounts had the following authorisations: "You can communicate outside of Xbox with voice & text", "You can join mulitplayer games", and "You can join cross-network play".
Despite this setup, none of the two children can access the Multiplayer menu in Minecraft.
Getting frustrated, I started to toy with the idea of declaring one of the two account as one of a major. As a result, I tweaked the birthdate of one children so it is no longer considered a child. I made this account leave the family group (and later reinvited the account as an organiser).
I can confirm that for this account, Microsoft now considers the account as an adult one (I can directly update the birthdate, when logged in as this account, something only an adult can do). Yet, this account still cannot access the Multiplayer menu in Minecraft, still because some of the same error referring to the Microsoft account not allowing it (despite it being recognised as an adult account now...) I suspect that the account is still declared as a child account somewhere (Microsoft, Xbox gamer tag, Minecraft, ?) but cannot figure out why.
So here I am:
- One child account, not able to play online.
- One formerly-child account transformed into an adult account, not able to play online.
Please send help ! Thank you in advance.
