I have changed my address and region to Canada, but my payment method is still linked to a South African card. I want to change my payment method to a Canadian card, but your system does not want to accept it, because it is looking for a South African card. My billing currency is also ZAR instead of CAD. How do we fix this, please?

For a Microsoft 365 home subscription, the subscription stays tied to the country/region and currency where it was originally purchased. Changing the account address or region does not convert an existing subscription from ZAR to CAD.

    To fix this:

    1. Cancel the current Microsoft 365 subscription, or wait for it to expire.
    2. Make sure the Microsoft account country/region is set to Canada.
    3. Add the new Canadian payment method from the Payment options page by selecting Add a new payment method.
    4. After the old subscription is fully gone, purchase a new Microsoft 365 subscription in Canada so billing is charged in CAD.

    Important details:

    • If the subscription was purchased in South Africa, it continues to use that region and currency until the subscription ends.
    • A payment method for another country requires the account country/region to be changed first.
    • If a region change is blocked, possible reasons include changing region within the last three months, an account suspension, or an active balance due.
    • For adding a new card, entering the postal code with and without spaces can help if the card is rejected.
