How to change Microsoft 365 password, paid subscription 5/1/26

Microsoft 365 subscription does not have a separate password. It uses the password for the Microsoft account that owns the subscription.

Since you do not remember the password, you can reset it using Microsoft’s password reset process: https://account.live.com/password/reset

Just to clarify a couple of things:

1. Where exactly is it asking for the password? Is it when signing in to Word/Excel, installing Microsoft 365, or signing in at https://account.microsoft.com?
2. Did you purchase the Microsoft 365 subscription directly from the Microsoft Store?
3. If yes, are you signing in with the same Microsoft account that was used to purchase the subscription on May 1, 2026?
