Make an existing alias primary without removing the old alias.

I have a Microsoft personal account. My current primary alias is gp***@live.com. I created a new Microsoft alias tek***@outlook.com, but the Manage account username page does not show “Make primary” next to any secondary alias. It only shows “Remove.” I need to make tek***@outlook.com primary so I can disable sign-in for my exposed gp***@live.com alias. Please do not remove or delete the gp***@live.com alias.

As I said as a friendly reminder that this is a community support forum where users help other users. Advisors participating here cannot make changes to Microsoft services. Your best bet is to wait until Microsoft fixes the issue from their backend.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused by this issue.

Since Saturday, the male primary button in front of the alias has been missing. Many users are reporting this.

To draw Microsoft's attention, could you click Feedback in the bottom right and let them know?

The more reports they get, the earlier it gets fixed.

    If Make primary is missing and only Remove appears, use the direct Manage how you sign in to Microsoft page instead of the account username page:

    1. Open Manage how you sign in to your account: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=842796
