To Microsoft OneDrive Support Team,

This is a formal escalation regarding a severe OneDrive failure that has caused multiple file losses, four unanswered support requests, and major disruption to my work.

1. Timeline

  • --PII REMOVED--

Four support cases have been created, but none have received any response.

2. Affected Files (5 total)

--PII REMOVED--

3. Technical Cause

All symptoms indicate Index Layer Corruption, including:

  • Broken path metadata
  • Orphan-layer behavior
  • Files accessible only via local cache
  • Files suddenly becoming inaccessible
  • Progressive corruption across directories

This is a structural failure of OneDrive’s metadata system.

4. Microsoft’s Responsibility

Microsoft must ensure:

  • Data integrity
  • Reliable cloud storage
  • Timely engineering response
  • File recovery
  • Clear communication

However:

  • Four support requests have been ignored
  • No engineer has responded
  • No recovery action has been taken
  • No explanation has been provided

This is unacceptable and has caused serious disruption.

5. Required Actions (Immediate)

I request urgent escalation to a higher-level OneDrive engineering team:

1.     Recover all five affected files from server logs / snapshots / orphan layer.

2.     Explain why four support requests received no response.

3.     Confirm assignment to a real engineer.

4.     Provide a timeline for full recovery.

This issue is extremely urgent.

    Hi Charlie Szeto,

Please note that our Microsoft Q&A forum is a public platform, and we will modify your response/ question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.

First, I want to say that I'm sorry to hear about the situation you're experiencing.

I genuinely wish I could do more to help. However, please note that Microsoft Q&A is primarily a community forum staffed by volunteers, independent contributors, and fellow users. We do not have access to Microsoft's internal OneDrive systems, backend storage infrastructure, support case records, engineering logs, or recovery tools. As a result, we cannot review your support requests, verify the status of any investigation, recover files, or escalate cases directly to engineering teams on your behalf.

We also do not have the authority to intervene in the progress of support tickets, assign engineers, obtain updates from the support organization, or provide information about internal recovery procedures. Any actions involving account-level data, storage metadata, server-side recovery, or support case management can only be performed by Microsoft support personnel through their official channels.

I understand this is probably not the answer you were hoping for, but unfortunately there is no mechanism available to community moderators to access or influence those internal processes. The best course of action is to continue working through the official support channels associated with your existing cases and allow the support team time to review the matter.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. I sincerely hope your case reaches the appropriate team soon and that a satisfactory resolution can be found.
