A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
Try these checks in order:
- Verify the account can open OneDrive on the web. If the web version also keeps loading or does not open, the issue may be account, network, or service related.
- Check that the username and password are correct by signing in to the Microsoft account dashboard.
- Update OneDrive to the latest version.
- If the desktop app shows as disconnected or a gray icon with a line through it, select the OneDrive icon and sign in again from the Set up OneDrive screen.
- If OneDrive says it is not connected, restart the app:
- On Windows: select Start, search for OneDrive, and open it.
- If the icon is missing, OneDrive may not be running.
- Check whether a firewall, VPN, or internet provider is blocking OneDrive. A quick test is to try a different network, such as a mobile hotspot.
- If access to OneDrive or SharePoint shows a DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error, first confirm the Microsoft 365 subscription is active. If it is active, flush the local DNS cache:
- Select Start
- Type cmd and open Command Prompt
- Run
ipconfig /flushdns - Try OneDrive again
- If OneDrive on Windows shows OneDrive cannot connect to Windows when using Files On-Demand, install all Windows updates, install the latest OneDrive version, and restart the computer.
If the issue continues after these steps, contact Microsoft technical support.
