A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
If Personal Vault is not visible or cannot be opened in OneDrive, use these checks:
- Check where it appears on PC.
- On a PC, Personal Vault appears as a shortcut in the file list, not in the folder list.
- It may not show where a normal folder would.
- Try opening it on the web.
- Sign in to OneDrive.com.
- Check whether Personal Vault is visible there and try to unlock it.
- If OneDrive says Personal Vault is not up to date:
- Unlock Personal Vault.
- Close any files stored in it.
- Wait for sync to complete.
- After sync finishes, lock it again.
- If needed, extend the auto-lock time in OneDrive: Settings > Account > change Personal Vault auto-lock time.
- If it keeps locking before sync completes:
- In OneDrive, open Settings.
- Go to the Account tab.
- Under Personal Vault, select a longer lock wait time.
- Be aware of search behavior.
- Personal Vault items do not appear in search results for privacy.
- If the issue is only on mobile:
- Personal Vault auto-locks after 3 minutes of inactivity by default.
- Change it in Me > Settings > Personal Vault > Auto-lock or Inactivity lock.
- If Personal Vault is still missing or inaccessible after sync completes:
- Use Contact Microsoft Support from the support flow for technical help.
Also note:
- Personal Vault is for OneDrive home and personal plans and is not available in OneDrive for business or work/school accounts.
- Two-step verification is required to access Personal Vault.
