No. During this situation, there is no supported way to bypass the BitLocker requirement or have Microsoft Support retrieve, provide, or recreate the recovery key.
The supported options are only to find the existing key from one of the places where it may already be stored:
- Note the first 8 digits of the recovery key ID shown on the BitLocker screen.
- From another device, check the Microsoft account recovery key page and match that key ID to the stored 48-digit recovery key.
- If the device was ever signed into an organization with a work or school account, check the work or school account recovery key page, then go to Devices > expand the device > View BitLocker Keys.
- Check whether the key was printed when BitLocker was enabled.
- Check for a USB flash drive where the key may have been saved as a text file.
- If the device is managed by an organization, contact that organization's IT support. Helpdesk procedures can retrieve the recovery password from Microsoft Entra ID or AD DS using the device name or recovery key ID.
If the recovery key cannot be found, the remaining option is to reset the device using Windows recovery options. Resetting removes files.
