For a live person, use Microsoft Support chat and ask for help setting up the Cox account in classic Outlook. In the support flow, choose Contact Support and then Chat with a support agent in your web browser. If there was a previous chat, provide the earlier case ID so the agent can continue the same issue.

For Cox mail settings in Outlook manual setup, the documented settings are:

    • Incoming POP server: pop.[insert region].cox.net
    • Incoming port: 110
    • SSL: OFF
    • SPA: OFF
    • Authentication required: OFF
    • Outgoing SMTP server: smtp.[insert region].cox.net
    • Outgoing port: 25
    • Encryption: None
    • SPA: OFF
    • Authentication required: OFF

If Outlook setup still fails, Microsoft’s guidance is to contact the email provider for setup help for providers such as Gmail, Yahoo, and similar third-party services. For work or school Microsoft 365 accounts, the Microsoft 365 admin or technical support should be contacted instead.
