Using Outlook for Android for personal email and calendar management
Since this fails on all devices, the app reinstall was unlikely to fix it. The remaining supported checks are account-level checks in Outlook.com:
- In Outlook.com, check Filter and set it to All. Also check the Other tab.
- Check Junk Email, Deleted Items, Archive, and if needed use Mark as not junk for messages that were misclassified.
- Check Settings > Mail > Forwarding and confirm forwarding is off.
- Check Settings > Mail > Rules and confirm no rule is moving or deleting mail. Since rules were already deleted, verify none reappeared.
- Check whether messages are just sorted unexpectedly. Use Filter > Sort > Date to restore chronological order.
- Check whether cloud storage is full, because if Microsoft cloud storage is full, Outlook.com cannot send or receive mail and messages sent during that period are bounced and unrecoverable.
- If the password was changed recently or there was unusual sign-in activity, update the password and check whether the account was temporarily blocked. Also review recent sign-in activity for unexpected access.
- If only one device is affected, remove the device partnership from the mailbox to fix sync issues. Since this is happening on every device, that points more to the mailbox/account than the app.
- If a third-party mail service or connected app is involved, it must support modern authentication and IMAP. If IMAP or POP is active for a connected app, disable IMAP and POP and test again.
- If a specific sender cannot reach the mailbox and an error appears such as "The recipient server did not accept our requests to connect," update the email address alias.
Because the issue started suddenly yesterday and affects both Hotmail and Outlook accounts on every device, the next supported step is Outlook.com support from inside Outlook.com:
- In Outlook.com, select Help on the menu bar, enter the issue, then scroll to Still need help? and select Yes.
- If sign-in is also affected, use the sign-in help option.
- Community support is also available if the in-product support path does not open.
