I understand Microsoft Publishing finishes in Oct 2026 - what does this do for me and why do I need it.

This is all beyond me. I just want to be able to type letters, make notes, send/receive emails. I don't understand what I would be losing when you close Microsoft Publishing in October and what or if I need to replace it with anything.

I do not understand what the Tags represent - Parent - Child. No idea what this all means.

Please explain in plain English

Microsoft Office contains many apps, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Publisher.

In October, Microsoft will be deprecating the Publisher app, that is an old app used to create booklets, cards...etc.

If you do not use that Publisher app, then you will be unaffected by the change in October, you can continue to use your Office apps like Word and Outlook normally after they make that change.
