My Samsung S24+ went through an update back in December, and I have not been able to login to email on my cellphone since! I spent 2 hours with a Verizon tier 2 tech back in the Spring trying to fix the issue, but they could not do it. They said I need to contact Microsoft and have a senior tech with Microsoft Outlook support help me. Just trying to get someone to help me with Microsoft has been a nightmare as I had one person who referred me to an Outlook link that did not solve my problem. Then I was on a chat with someone from Outlook support named Prescila, but then got cut off. Please help me!

Try this end-to-end reset path on the Samsung S24+:

    1. Confirm whether the account still works in a browser.
      • If this is an Outlook.com account such as Hotmail, Live, or Outlook.com, sign in through the Microsoft account flow and verify the account is accessible.
      • If the account works on a computer but not on the phone, the issue is likely with the mobile app or phone setup.
    2. If the Outlook app is stuck in a sign-in loop, remove and re-add the account.
      • In Outlook mobile, go to Settings.
      • Select the affected account.
      • Select Delete Account.
      • Add the account again.
      • This is the documented fix if the issue started after changing the primary alias, and it is also a common reset step for mobile sign-in problems.
    3. Clear the Outlook app state on Android, then reinstall.
      • If Outlook crashes or continues failing to sign in, clear the device browser cache, remove the Outlook app, and reinstall it.
      • On Android, a clean setup can also include clearing the Outlook app cache/data before signing in again.
    4. Update Outlook mobile to the latest version.
      • Recurring password prompts can happen because the app’s security standards were updated.
      • Installing the latest Outlook mobile version is a recommended fix.
    5. If the account is a Microsoft personal account, use the Microsoft sign-in helper.
      • The sign-in helper checks the account details entered and identifies common sign-in problems.
      • Start here: Start
    6. If the account is a Microsoft 365 work or school account:
      • Use the self-service password reset if allowed: Reset password
      • If self-service reset is not allowed, the next step is the organization’s IT admin.
    7. If Samsung Email is being used instead of Outlook:
      • Manual IMAP/POP setup will sync only email, not calendar or contacts.
      • For Outlook.com, the outgoing SMTP server is smtp-mail.outlook.com, security type TLS, port 587.
      • For Microsoft 365 for business, the outgoing SMTP server is smtp.office365.com, security type TLS, port 587.
      • For Exchange accounts, contact the email provider or system administrator.
    8. If none of the above works:
      • In Outlook mobile, go to Settings > Help & Feedback > Contact Support.
      • For Outlook.com accounts, Microsoft support is also listed as the support path.

    Notes based on the symptoms:

    • If email still works on a computer and there is no Outlook.com outage, the problem is likely on the phone or in the app.
    • If the account was added as IMAP or POP, calendar and contacts will not sync; Exchange ActiveSync is required for those.
