Onedrive on Mac OS 13 Ventura

I have been happily using Onedrive for some time. I had to reinstall my system on a iMac 2019 using intel core I7 and Mac OS Ventura 13.7.8. Now onedrive will not install. I have the MS office 365 installed with MS Word 16.101. When I try to reinstall onedrive I get a message "You cannot install Microsoft OneDrive in this location. The Microsoft OneDrive installer does not allow its software to be installed here." I can't install it at all. When I try to download a previous version from the Apple App Store, it installs and will not open, sync or do anything. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm tired of trying. I use the onedrive at home to do work that is easier on a Mac and it allows me to have those files to use for work on my Wintel computer. I hope someone here can help me because I can't seem to find any support from Microsoft about this. The Office software is from our work account that allows me to have office running on my Mac OS.

The latest OneDrive builds distributed via the App Store now require macOS 14.4 or later. On Ventura (13.x), these versions either fail to install or crash on launch because support for Ventura has ended in recent releases.

Community members have shared the following workaround that allows OneDrive to continue functioning on macOS Ventura 13.7.8:

1.Remove current app

Delete OneDrive.app from the Applications folder.

2.Install a stable legacy build

Download and install this package: https://oneclient.sfx.ms/Mac/Installers/26.032.0217.0003/universal/OneDrive.pkg

Do not launch OneDrive yet.

3.Disable updater services

Launch the Terminal app.

In a new terminal, run each of these commands (enter your admin password when asked)

sudo launchctl remove com.microsoft.OneDriveStandaloneUpdater
sudo launchctl remove com.microsoft.OneDriveStandaloneUpdaterDaemon
sudo launchctl remove com.microsoft.OneDriveUpdaterDaemon

4.After that, run these three commands

sudo rm /Library/LaunchAgents/com.microsoft.OneDriveStandaloneUpdater.plist
sudo rm /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.microsoft.OneDriveStandaloneUpdaterDaemon.plist
sudo rm /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.microsoft.OneDriveUpdaterDaemon.plist

5.Restart and run OneDrive

After rebooting, launch OneDrive. It should now operate without updater crashes.

I have been busy and didn't get to this until just recently. It solved my problem. Thank you so much for the help. I don't know why in modern times these software companies have to make things so difficult. I don't like being forced to update anything I own and it's just another piece of freedom taken away to force something on me. I miss the old days where stuff worked and didn't take an engineer to figure it out. Thank you so much. I'd buy you a drink if I could.
