I am not receiving a code in my authenticator app. I see the account but no code ever comes through and I'm locked out of my account.

Try these checks first for Microsoft Authenticator:

    1. Make sure the Authenticator app is unlocked on the device. If the app is locked, the entry box might not appear.
    2. Verify notifications are enabled for Microsoft Authenticator. Silent or disabled notifications can prevent prompts from appearing. Also check text messages in case an authentication code arrived silently.
    3. Update Microsoft Authenticator to the latest version.
    4. Check connectivity. If the device has network issues, switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data.
    5. Confirm the device date and time are correct.

If the account is visible in the app but no code or prompt ever appears, and access is blocked, use another sign-in or verification method if one is available.

If no other method is available and access is lost:

    • For a personal Microsoft account, at the Verify your identity prompt select I don't have any of these and follow the steps to replace security info. If all security info is replaced, there is a 30-day wait before sign-in is available again.
    • If some security info is still accessible, go to the Advanced security options page, add a new way to sign in or verify, confirm it with a code, then remove the method that no longer works. Do not change all security info at the same time, or the account may be restricted for 30 days.
    • If still unable to receive verification codes, another method may be required, or access to the listed phone or email may need to be restored. Support agents cannot send verification codes or change account details.
