surface laptop 7 model 2036 touch screen

My surface laptop 7 model 2036 screen cracked. I ordered right screen from microsoft store.

However once I pull out my original screen, I am aware the difference.

My original screen has 4 cables (display , camera and two touch cables) and screen I received have two cables (display and camera) Display cable have identical model number. It indicates my original screen is normal touch screen with touch cable while screen I received is on cell touch screen. No touch cable.

I go for surface support site and found little help.

Anyone knows if they are compatible screen?

    The two screens are not directly compatible.

    Your original Surface Laptop 7 (model 2036) uses a standard touch screen with separate touch cables, while the replacement you received is an on-cell touch screen that integrates touch into the display itself.

    Even though the display cable model numbers match, the touch functionality will not work properly because the connection type is different.

    You will need to request the correct replacement screen (with 4 cables) to restore full touch capability.

    Hello Joel ZHAO,

    The Surface Laptop 7 repair guide here notes that some replacement screens have only two connectors but continue to work normally, including touch. It also recommends updating the Surface firmware after replacement.

    Before installing it, compare the replacement SKU with Microsoft’s parts list for your exact screen size and color. Microsoft lists different display assemblies for the 13-inch and 15-inch models.

    If the SKU matches your device, the lower cable count alone is not a reason to return the screen. Follow Microsoft’s repair guide, install all Windows and Surface firmware updates, then test the display, touch, and camera.
