Adding photos to an album should not remove the original files from OneDrive.

Are the photos missing only from the new album, or also from the main “Photos” and “My files” sections?

Did you create the album through OneDrive Web at https://onedrive.live.com or through the Windows Photos app?

Have you checked the OneDrive Recycle Bin to see if the photos were moved there?

Please also confirm whether the photos still appear when you sign in to OneDrive Web https://onedrive.live.com

Hi Philip!

Yes, you are doing it correctly now.

A OneDrive album does not create a separate copy of the photo. It only organizes and displays the original photo stored in OneDrive. Because of this, deleting the photo from “Gallery” also deletes the original file, so it disappears from the album as well.

There is no option to delete a photo only from “Gallery” while keeping it in the album. You need to keep the original photo in OneDrive. You can organize the photos into albums or folders, but avoid selecting “Delete” unless you want to remove the photo completely.

Hi John,

First, thanks for your prompt reply. I am so sorry that I just asked a quick question without putting some details.

But I think I found the mistake myself after several tries.

Basically, I am adding pictures from the section Gallery into the new created Album. But afterwards, I just deleted the original pictures from the section Gallery, since I thought it is was now copied into the section Album. But I realized that the pictures from Album disappears once I do that. Therefore, I kept the pictures from the Gallery, and the issue is solved.

Did I doing correctly ? or there is another way that I can delete the pictures from Gallery without affecting the Album ?
