Trouble logging into Authenticator

When I try to log into my university email address it sends a sign in request to my authenticator app which I am not currently logged into. Hence, I try to log into my authenticator app but strangely, logging into that sends a sign in request to my authenticator app which I am trying to log into. This is extremely annoying as i try to access uni emails over the summer.

Hi Joseph,

It sounds like you're stuck in an MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) loop. This commonly happens when your university account is configured to use Microsoft Authenticator for approval, but the Authenticator app itself is no longer signed in, has been reset, or was moved to a new device.

First, check whether the sign-in page offers options such as"Sign in another way","Use a different verification method", or"I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now." If another method (phone, email, recovery code, etc.) is available, use it to regain access.

If Microsoft Authenticator is the only verification method available, you'll need to contact your university IT Help Desk or Microsoft 365 administrator and ask them to reset your MFA registration or require MFA re-registration for your account. After they do this, you'll be able to sign in and set up Authenticator again on your device.

In some cases, clearing the Authenticator app cache or reinstalling the app may help, but if the account is caught in a verification loop, an MFA reset by the university administrator is often required.

Hope this will help !
