How do I unmerge my personal hotmail from my institutional account?

My institutional account @upr.edu merged automatically with my personal hotmail account and I dont know why or how to unmerge it.

A personal Hotmail account and an institutional Microsoft 365 account should not be able to merge in the first place. They are two separate account types.

It is more likely that both accounts were added to the same Outlook app, Office profile, OneDrive, or Windows settings.

Where exactly do you see that the accounts are merged?

Are the emails or files mixed together, or are both account names simply shown in the same app?

Can you still sign in to each account separately?

I sign in with my institutional email and then automatically what opens is the personal @hotmail email. Unsure why that happens. The institutional email should had migrated to outlook but mine stayed under Gmail (unsure why). Now that I open outlook using the institutional email it automatically merged my personas email and it does not even let me delete the personal email.

Does it still open the Hotmail mailbox? Also, did UPR confirm that your specific account was migrated to Outlook and assigned a Microsoft 365 mailbox? You may need to contact the university’s IT department because only they can verify or activate the institutional mailbox. Thanks!
