OneNote on my phone will ask me to sign-in, run through Microsoft authenticator and then return back to the same screen after. I cannot access any of my notebooks on the mobile app. Web app is fine through browser. Authenticator never prompts me for a code or anything. It just pops over to a white screen, then straight back to OneNote where the process repeats itself.

    Hi Wesley

Sorry you’re going through this issue with OneNote on your phone. I appreciate you sharing what happened and the details about being redirected to Microsoft Authenticator and then returned back to the OneNote sign-in screen.

Before we proceed, please note that forum moderators do not have access to user account settings and cannot assist with logging in, resetting passwords, or changing access rights. While we do not have access to internal systems or administrative tools required to resolve account-specific or backend-related issues but we’ll continue doing our best to support you within the scope of our responsibilities.

Since OneNote works through the web browser, your notebooks and account access appear to be working. This issue seems more related to the mobile app sign-in flow, cached credentials, or the Microsoft Authenticator broker session on the device.

Here are some steps you can try:

    1. Update both OneNote and Microsoft Authenticator to the latest version from the App Store or Play Store.
    2. Fully close OneNote and Microsoft Authenticator, then reopen OneNote and try signing in again.
    3. Restart your phone, then try signing in to OneNote again.
    4. If the issue continues, remove your account from OneNote if the app allows it, then sign back in.
    5. If you are still stuck in the loop, uninstall and reinstall OneNote. After reinstalling, open OneNote and try signing in again.

Should the issue still continues after these steps, please reach out to your organization’s IT team for further assistance. They may need to check your Microsoft 365 sign-in logs, MFA registration, or any mobile access policies affecting OneNote. You can also share the steps outlined in the article Manage user authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication. This will help them assist you in resetting your MFA settings and restoring access to your account.

I hope this can be resolved soon. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to share them in the comment below. I'm very happy to help.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
