I’m currently locked out of my computer because BitLocker is requesting a recovery key. The instructions direct me to the recovery link, but I’m unable to access it. Every time the page is opened, it only displays a blank white screen that continuously loads and never progresses.

To make sure the issue wasn’t on my end, I tried accessing the link from multiple devices and different people. I tested it myself, my brother tried it, and an online friend also attempted to access it, but we all experienced the exact same white screen.

At this point, I’m unable to retrieve my recovery key or use my computer because the recovery page appears to be inaccessible. Is anyone else experiencing this issue, and is there an alternative way to access the recovery key or contact support? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve had the same issue last night, so frustrating since there is no workaround and i was trying to figure out why my laptop was freezing only to now be locked out of it till they fix this bug. I contacted Microsoft support and they said they’ve been receiving reports from many customers worldwide having the same issue, and that it’s been identified as an ongoing bug and they have a team actively working on it. Has apparently been escalated and treated as a priority and will supposedly be resolved within 24-48hrs. So fingers crossed

I've been having the same issue for the past 5 days. Unfreezing/Setting up my OneDrive account didn't change anything but I just set up my Xbox account with the Microsft account that had issues with loading the bitlocker recovery page and somehow it now works... No idea how this is all linked but I hope it works for someone else.

Edit : Also maybe the Microsoft team just figured it out ?

Hi same here I got a new laptop for gaming. Will this be fixed or shall I contact Currys for refund due to Microsoft incompetency?

Hello everyone! i have found the fix! you have to log into your microsoft account with a CODE, or some sort of two factor auth instead of your password! the keys require two factor to view, but the prompt for it seems to be the bug! this fixed it for me <3

That’s worked for me! Thanks! Logged in using code sent to my email instead of password and loaded straight away. Tried again logging in with password and didn’t work that time. So logging in using some sort of 2 factor auth seems to be the fix

Same thing for me, turned my laptop on yesterday and it suddenly demanded this bitlocker key before it would let sign in and the Windows page to get the key doesnt work and hadn't worked for at least 6 days before from what I can tellnonline, so they have effectively locked me out of my computer.

I have never heard of a bitlocker key before and there was no reason for it to habe kicked in a locked me out. The only thing I did do the day before was disconnect a bluetooth mouse as it had become faulty, I ordered a new one and disconnected the one that wasnt working correctly, would that count as a hardware change? I wouldnt say so.

When I got the computer and any other computer Inhave never had, there was never any information in the box or anything on the comouter telling us how important this Bitlocker number is and to keep note of it. This is literally the first time I have heard of a bitlocker code when they locked me out.

I have been reading and it seems even when that page works again, it will only have our bitlocker code if we personally saved it. I know I didn't personally save the key to this microsoft site because I was never advised or told that the key existed in the first place.

So I am trapped out of my computer for no reason and now the only way oht of it is to wipe everything on the comouter and haveba fresh windows install. We need to remember to disable bitlocker on every computer we ever own as this is the most scammy thing ever. It is basically a virus which hijacks your computer and all of the files on it, which is managed and conteolled by Microsoft. How can they justify this?

Many people are reporting this problem when trying to access the BitLocker Recovery Key section of their Microsoft account online.

There is nothing wrong with your computer or browser, this is a server issue that Microsoft needs to fix.

Wait a while and try accessing the BitLocker Key Recovery page again, this is an intermittent problem. it should be accessible soon.

Still currently not working, what is Microsoft doing? Many people rely on BitLocker and the Microsoft server being down is a very major issue as some people can access files, recover their files or recover their PCs and etc. Hopefully they can fix this soon as I can’t access my computer just because they won’t fix their servers

I echo all of the other posters. I have a similar issue. I purchased a new laptop and cannot get into it because it is asking for a BitLocker Recovery Key immediately. But on the bright side, it make a beautiful paper weight….
