Don't worry, your computer is not actually haunted. This happens surprisingly often with software like NordVPN. When NordVPN is installed, it also sets up secondary background services, updater tools, and scheduled tasks (like the NordVPN Enabler).

When you uninstall the main application through standard Windows settings, those background updater services frequently get left behind. The leftover updater service notices that the main program files are missing and automatically redownloads or reinstalls them in the background.
