    Good day Charlotte

Thank you for sharing your concern.

Just to gently clarify before we go any further, this is a user‑to‑user support forum. I don’t have the ability to access or investigate individual accounts because this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, do not have access to internal systems or the ability to directly take action on Microsoft product features. However, I truly hope I can help review your situation, offer some guidance, and support you in finding the right next steps as best as possible.

Please note that Teams meeting recordings are usually stored in OneDrive or SharePoint rather than Teams itself. Since the recording was deleted around 12 weeks ago, I recommend checking those locations as soon as possible and contacting your IT administrator for assistance. In case you do not know who is your IT admin, kindly refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

By default, items deleted from OneDrive or SharePoint are permanently removed from the recycle bin after 93 days unless your organization has configured a different retention policy. Once this period has passed, the files can no longer be recovered through the Recycle Bin.

Please see the following steps based on where the records are stored:

Option 1: Check the OneDrive recycle bin

Use this option if the recording was created from a regular Teams meeting, Outlook meeting, Meet Now session, recurring meeting, or any meeting that was not held in a Teams channel.

Sign in to office.com using the account of the meeting organizer > Select App Launcher > OneDrive.

Open the Recordings folder and check whether the recording is still available.

If the file isn't there, select Recycle Bin from the left navigation menu.

    Search for the recording file.

If you find it, select the file and choose Restore.

If you don't find the recording there, check whether the OneDrive second-stage recycle bin is available and search for the file there.

Option 2: Check the SharePoint recycle bin

Use this option if the recording was created during a Teams channel meeting.

Note: If you don't see either the recycle bin or the second stage recycle bin on the team SharePoint site, please contact your SharePoint administrator or IT administrator to help verify whether the recording can still be recovered.

    Open Microsoft Teams.

Navigate to the Team and Channel where the meeting took place.

Open the Shared tab > Select Open in SharePoint.

In SharePoint, open the Recycle Bin.

    Search for the recording file.

If found, select the recording and choose Restore.

If you don't find the recording there, check whether the SharePoint second-stage recycle bin is available and search for the file there.

Option 3: Contact your organization's IT admin

If it has already been permanently removed from all Recycle Bin stages, it is generally not recoverable through standard Microsoft 365 recovery methods.

In this situation, please ask your IT admin check whether your organization has any of the following:

    Microsoft Purview retention policies

    eDiscovery or Legal Hold configurations

    Microsoft 365 Backup

Your IT administrator will be in the best position to verify whether any of these options are available and whether they can help recover the recording.

I hope the recording can still be located and recovered through one of the options above. If you have any questions or need further support, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
