Whiteboard is being retired

I am part way through a large project. I have used Whiteboard to do a lot of preliminary sketches and designs for a large scale agricultural business. Microsoft suggests copying my existing content to somewhere else so I don't lose it. But I won't be able to change/manipulate my work as good as I have been doing in Whiteboard. I won't be finished this project until next year and the access to Whiteboard expires in August 26. Please help. Thanks

Windows 11 ruined Windows in favor of ad based OS, now Whiteboard is getting axed in favor of paid version. Listen Nadela dude, poor Windows user experience, means also poor Azure favoring, I just favored your competitors.

Yes, Microsoft as many american companies do not bet on customer satisfaction, but on customer to be too tied/dependant to leave...

Short term strategy. When users will be disgusted enough, they are going to leave.

I have been an happy Microsoft client for dozen of years, I am now disgustred enough, they changed product that work for product that do not (Windows 10 start menu tiles [mess in Win 11], File search [unable to find a file, official answer of Copilot : use AI to generate a powershll script...], Outlook [New outlook], Skype [Teams], Remote Desktop [Windows App], Word [Words needs now 4 clicks for every tool], ...

And that is only for everyday life tools...

Fortunately for Microsoft, Apple makes the same bet.
But Linux is an alternative now. It's free as in costless and freedom.

Hey, Microsoft, do you think sometimes ?
Do you use your own products ?
Do you know who gives you money ?
Do you know what is a user and a customer ?

Microsoft Whiteboard is transitioning to a Microsoft 365 Business account requirement after August 22, 2026. Personal account users will only be able to view and export their Whiteboards until September 5, 2026. After that date, any content that has not been migrated may be permanently deleted.

Effectively. to continue working on your project next year, you will need to either upgrade to a Microsoft 365 Business account, export your existing Whiteboards for archiving, or migrate your content to a dedicated digital design and whiteboarding application.

The first option is to upgrade to Microsoft 365 Business. If you want to continue using Microsoft Whiteboard with full editing and manipulation capabilities, you will need to move to a commercial account. After upgrading, your Whiteboards will be stored as .whiteboard files in OneDrive for Business instead of the expiring personal storage location. This allows you to continue editing your agricultural layouts and project designs within Whiteboard.

The second option is to export your Whiteboards as high-quality images for archiving. If you do not plan to upgrade, you should export important designs before the September deletion deadline. Open the Whiteboard, go to the Settings menu in the upper-right corner, select Export Image, choose the High Resolution option, and save the output as a PNG file to local storage or another cloud service.

The third option is to migrate to a dedicated whiteboarding application. such as Miro or. Mural
