Cannot login azure account with 2FA code

When I attempt to sign in, Microsoft requests a 6-digit verification code. However, the Microsoft Authenticator app associated with my account only displays an 8-digit Microsoft Account (MSA) one-time password, and I do not have the expected 6-digit code or any other registered authentication method available.

How do I recover my azure account?

Hello @Minh Pham Duc,

Based on the information you provided, it appears that you are experiencing an issue accessing the Azure portal because the authentication method may not be configured correctly.

In Microsoft Authenticator, personal Microsoft accounts typically generate an 8-digit code, while work or school (business) accounts generally use a 6-digit code for authentication. When signing in to the Azure portal, it will recognize your account as a work or school account, in which case a 6-digit verification code would be required.

If you are able to enter your email address and password successfully but are then prompted for a 6-digit code, it is possible that your account has been added as a guest user to an organization's tenant and is using that tenant's MFA configuration.

Could you please let me know:

  • Are you accessing Azure for personal use or on behalf of an organization?
  • Have you been able to access the Azure portal successfully in the past?

If this account is associated with an organization, you may need to contact the tenant administrator and ask them to reset your Microsoft Authenticator registration.

Please let me know if you have any updates on this matter. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
