Try these steps in order:
- Disconnect everything from the Surface.
- Remove USB drives, SD cards, external monitors, Surface Dock, Type Cover, and any other accessories.
- Then try turning it on again.
- Connect the correct Surface power supply and charge it.
- Plug in the power supply designed for the device.
- Let it charge for at least 15 minutes.
- Then close and reopen the lid or keyboard and press the power button.
- Try the display wake shortcut.
- If a keyboard is connected or integrated, press Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B.
- Force a restart.
- Press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds until the Surface shuts down and restarts, then release it when the Windows logo appears.
- If it still only shows the logo briefly and does not boot, reset it with a USB recovery drive.
- Shut down the Surface.
- Insert the USB recovery drive.
- Press and hold volume-down, then press and release power.
- When the Surface logo appears, release volume-down.
- If Windows starts after recovery, install the latest Surface and Windows updates.
- If Windows still does not start, use a service option.
- Microsoft support options include sending the device to Microsoft, finding in-person support where available, or self-repair for technically experienced users.
