Authenticator app asks me for a code to verify.

The authenticator app asks me for a verification code. Which isn't a problem. I can't access the code because I'm not logged into my school account on the authenticator app. How am I supposed to get a code to verify when I am actively trying to log into the authenticator app? And I can't verify my account through my phone number because it's an old number. There is no way to access that phone number anymore. So now I'm in a pickle. I need to log back into my school account. There are very important emails I need to check.

If you no longer have access to your old phone number and can't use Microsoft Authenticator, you'll likely need your school's Microsoft 365 administrator or IT help desk to reset your MFA methods. Unfortunately, without a valid verification method, Microsoft can't bypass the security checks. Hope you're able to regain access soon.
