how to change account phone number

i use 2 mail accounts, live and outlook. on pc, both linked. on laptop, both linked. on old phone ( samsung ), both linked. new phone ( honor ), only outlook. can't add live account because it has an old phone number for verification purposes. all i want to do is change this number, but don't know where to look or how. one single step, so much mental anguish.

the problem i had has now been fixed. i removed my old mobile number and was able to sign in using another account. both accounts are now linked. no further action is needed.

Hello!

Please follow these steps:

Go to https://account.live.com/proofs/manage/
Find your old phone number listed under your verification methods. Click Remove next to it.
Then click Add another way to sign in to your account to enter your current mobile number.

If you're unable to sign in, look for an option such as "Try another verification method" to see if another verification method is available. If you no longer have access to any of the listed security methods, select "I don't have any of these" (if available) and follow the prompts to begin replacing your security information.

Because this is a high-security action, Microsoft may place a 30-day hold on the account before the old number actually gets swapped out. Your account will still work on your PC and laptop during this time, but you won't be able to log in on your new Honor phone until the 30 days are up. It’s an automated security measure, so unfortunately, even Microsoft support can’t speed it up for you. For more details, please check this article:

my apologies. yes. i was able to link both accounts by removing the old number as a log in option, and using the other email instead. but no, still couldn't find how to register my new number. getting sent from link to link and becoming more confused.
