We believe that we have solved the problem -- It certainly was not straight forward, but it seems to have worked (4 laptops were affected and all seem to be working now) - We needed to download a chipset and then download drivers.

Suddenly, unable to unmute microphone on ACER Laptop- (multiple units have the same issue) when search the microphone is not found. We have tried searching for driver - message states best driver found.
Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers -- problem persists

Invert the checkboxes and let me know if there is any improvement. Also enable Stereo Mix too in mmys.cpl command.

Do you have Realtek HD Audio control panel installed?
If not, install https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9p2b8mcsvpln?hl=en-US&gl=IN, please. Once done, send me a screenshot of the same.

Let me work with you on this issue.
Let us determine the state of the microphone first.
Press Windows+R keys on the keyboard, or Right-click Start on the Taskbar and choose Run.
Type mmsys.cpl
Press Enter.
- Go to the Recording tab,. If any Mic is there, Select and choose Properties.
- Take screenshots of all the tabs and post in the next reply.
I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.
