Android: Outlook recognizes Touch but not Click events.

Within an email message in Outlook, I can follow a link to YouTube Rumble or Spotify with my finger, because it's recognized as a 'Touch' event, but nothing happens if I click on the same link with my Bluetooth mouse, because the 'Click' event is only recognized outside of the email. Email source makes no difference and security would block the link all together.

I can move mark open reply delete an email, because those actions are outside of the email.

This suggests that internal email event handling lacks 'Click' event support.

I takes a few OR functions to correct. You should add them from the laptop code, instead of assuming people never use an external mouse or keyboard with their phone.

To be clear,I am using Outlook and Vivaldi email apps and they both do the same thing.

I don't know how to move the email to "full screen, or pop-out" so I can't answer that.

So far the issue is common to a Technet and Meetion mouse (both Bluetooth).

Your answer is worthy enough, but it restates my suggestion, without solving the now expanded to Vivaldi email phenomenon. Vivaldi's help is a rabbithole of FAQ's. forums and off target suggestions,instead of a simple contact form, so they are presently unaware they even have an issue, because I'm a singer-songwriter and retired automation controls consultant. I narrowed it down to touch vs click and now it involves algorythims common to email client adaptation of Android email functions.

I'll put a YES on your answer, but the issue is expanded, not resolved. Anyone should be able to replicate the issue using a Bluetooth mouse on an Android phone.

I don't have another android device. Anyone with another android device should be able to recreate the issue, or controvert the finding, with the information I have provided, if they have access to a Bluetooth mouse.

To update, there are some links that will function with the moue and some that will not, so it could be related to the link widget used.

Links that don't work typically have a YouTube arrow in the middle of a picture, while links that simply say "Watch here", or show just the link seem to work.

I just checked two emails, one with an arrow (not YouTube) in a picture, and one that said "Watch here"... te arrow doesnt work and the "Watch here" does work.

This is an mail list creation app problem. If so, it should affect Apple as well, unless the email app combines user input from touch or click through an OR gate, before it enters the email.

It sems the tell is a picture with an arrow, but as you said I don't have the ability to right click on a widget that doesn't recognize any click either.

Some widget builder will eventually design a better "mouse trap" and the problem will be resolved.

I personally use a Bluetooth mouse and have tested the scenario you described. However, I have been unable to reproduce the issue. It is possible that I do not have any emails containing the specific links that are causing the behavior in your environment.

Simple enough... my email is --PII REMOVED--

Send me an email address that's safe for you, and I will forward an email that works, an email that doesn't work and a substack response email that also doesn't work.

Plus I can forward each to my Vivaldi emai; address --PII REMOVED-- to confirm that they don't work (or do) within that client as well. I found the same issue in Vivaldi.

Opening on Vivaldi the formatting is stripped away and the links work.

I have had emails sent directly to Vivaldi that do the same thing as Outlook, but the two I just tested worked.
