Microsoft Office 2019 Perpetual License for Mac

I have Office 2019 with perpetual license, now I can no longer use it on my Mac. I received an e-mail from Microsoft that I can no longer edit using it. And the interface whenever I open Word says that my 2019 license is not supported.

How can I continue using the Microsoft Office 2019 for Mac? Since Microsoft sold this with perpetual license, I should be able to use it perpetually. It seems to me that I am being forced to buy a new product when in fact I should have a perfectly working product that I should be able to use perpetually.

Help me make sense of all these.

    Hello

I am as disappointed as you are. But I will still share the honest answer here.

Starting July 13, 2026, Office 2019 for Mac entered reduced functionality mode because its licensing certificate can no longer be updated. Office may still open documents, but it can no longer activate for editing, saving, or creating files. The 0x0 error is part of that activation failure.

Microsoft confirms that Office 2019 for Mac cannot be updated to the required version, and reinstalling Office 2019 will not resolve it.

    The available options are:

    1. Use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint online for free through Microsoft 365 for the web.
    2. Purchase a supported version such as Office Home 2024.
    3. Subscribe to Microsoft 365.

Your existing documents are not deleted or damaged, but Office 2019 for Mac can no longer be restored to full editing mode through activation troubleshooting.

I understand your frustration. I suggest that you redirect your complaints to the feedback portal: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/ No one here in this forum is behind these decisions or has any influence over these decisions. But product teams do read feedback in the feedback portal.
