I am trying to log into my Microsoft account on my phone but it just wont work. Each time i try it tells me to try another method but it does not show the other methods, just the password. The other options are "Forgot your password?" and "Sign in with a different Microsoft account" and it does not include the authenticator app or the email code I set up. This is also the case for an app called "Modrinth" which is a Minecraft extension for downloading mods. If i open a private window on my PC i am able to log in but for my phone and the Modrinth app I am just not able to.

This usually indicates a temporary sign-in block or a blocked verification path, not that the account has no other methods configured. Since sign-in works in a private window on the PC, the account itself is still accessible, and the issue is more likely tied to the sign-in flow, verification method, network, or app session on the phone and in Modrinth.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Use another verification method if it appears later If the block is tied to password sign-in, Microsoft recommends using another verification method connected to the account, such as an alternate email instead of SMS.
    2. Switch networks on the phone Change from Wi‑Fi to mobile data, or from mobile data to Wi‑Fi. Microsoft documents that some blocks are tied to the current network or traffic pattern.
    3. Stop repeated attempts and wait Repeated sign-in or code requests can extend the block. Wait at least 24 hours before trying again. In some cases, it can take longer, up to 1 week.
    4. Try the Microsoft sign-in helper Use the Microsoft sign-in troubleshooter to identify the sign-in problem and available support options: Start
    5. If Authenticator was expected but is missing, verify it is still set up in the app Microsoft Authenticator can be used for passwordless sign-in, MFA, and verification codes. If the account is no longer properly added in the app, add it again:
      • Open Microsoft Authenticator.
      • Select + Add account.
      • Choose the account type.
      • Select Sign in with Microsoft.
      • Complete verification.
    6. If passwordless setup shows “You haven't finished yet” This can happen when other accounts are already in Authenticator. To complete setup:
      • Open Microsoft Authenticator.
      • Select + Add account.
      • Choose the account type.
      • Select Sign in with Microsoft and sign in.
      • Complete verification.
      • Go to Add a new way to sign in or verify, select Use an app, then complete setup.
    7. If this is a work or school account The same temporary block guidance applies: try another method, try another network, and wait before retrying.

If the phone and Modrinth app still only show password sign-in after waiting and changing networks, continue signing in from the working browser session and use the sign-in helper for the blocked flows.
