A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
Hello LGLDSR73-6492,
I understand that after the Windows update, Personal Vault still shows an open-door icon even after you select Lock.
First, test the actual security status rather than relying on the icon: close Personal Vault, reopen it, and check whether Windows asks for a PIN or another verification method. If verification is required, the Vault is locked correctly.
Restarting OneDrive may also refresh the stuck icon without changing any settings:
- Close all files stored in Personal Vault and wait for OneDrive to finish syncing.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select Microsoft OneDrive, then select End task.
- Open Start, search for OneDrive, and launch it again.
- Lock Personal Vault and test it once more
If the Vault still opens without asking you to verify your identity, try resetting OneDrive:
Press Windows + R, enter %localappdata%\\Microsoft\\OneDrive\\onedrive.exe /reset then press Enter. Afterward, open the Start menu, search for OneDrive, and launch it again.
Note: Resetting OneDrive does not delete your files. It rebuilds OneDrive’s local settings and sync connection, which can clear a stuck or outdated Vault status and allow the lock function to work correctly again.
Please let me know how it goes after trying these steps, and I'll be glad to continue looking into it with you.
