Artifact Signing identity validation pending — release blocked

My Artifact Signing identity validation has remained In Progress for three days. Email verification and all requested steps are complete, there is no “Action Required” status, and I have checked junk/spam.

This is blocking a scheduled production release. Could an Artifact Signing moderator ask me privately for the Identity Validation ID and have the validation team confirm whether anything is missing?

Three days is still within the normal review window. Microsoft's current guidance says Artifact Signing identity validation can take 1–20 business days, and longer when additional documentation is required. While the status is In Progress, the request is still queued or being reviewed; it does not by itself mean something is missing. If the team needs anything, the status should change to Action Required and an email should be sent.

Keep the existing request. Do not delete it or create parallel validation requests. Microsoft's FAQ says duplicate requests for the same entity do not help, and identity validation cannot be expedited.

Because your release is blocked, you can open an Azure support request for Artifact Signing and ask for a status check. Provide the account name, region, Identity Validation ID, the UTC time the request was created and verification completed, and a screenshot of the current status. Share the full validation ID only through the private support channel, not in this public thread. Support can confirm whether the request is awaiting vetting or a manual step, but cannot guarantee faster approval.

Continue monitoring the portal and the primary email address. If it remains In Progress beyond 20 business days without any Action Required message, update the support case and ask the Artifact Signing validation team to investigate the stalled request.

I managed to get it working after running into the same issue. In my case, the problem was that my billing account/profile name didn't match the identity I wanted to verify. Since I couldn't edit the existing billing account, I went to Billing Account → Properties, created a new billing profile with my correct legal name, and used that profile when creating a new identity validation. After completing the verification link and waiting a short while, the status changed to Completed, and I was able to create my certificate profile successfully. If you're seeing a name mismatch, make sure your billing profile, identity validation, and Microsoft account information are all consistent before submitting.
