Hi @Daniel Keating,

Thank you for the additional information.

Since your goal is to move your business email from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 Business Standard, Microsoft does provide a supported migration process that you can follow: Perform a Google Workspace migration to Microsoft 365 or Office 365 | Microsoft Learn

Before performing the migration, you will generally need to add and verify your domain in Microsoft 365 so that Microsoft can manage email services for the domain. Once the domain is connected and verified, you can proceed with the migration process.

I also noticed that you mentioned "A Microsoft 365 Business Standard Account has been established." If that tenant has already been created, and you would prefer direct assistance or remote guidance from Microsoft, I would recommend signing in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center using the administrator account that was created with the Business Standard subscription.

After signing in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, select Help & Support

Then you can type "I need agent support via phone or email" and click on "Contact support". From there, you can choose your preferred support method, such as phone or email, and request that the case be reviewed by the appropriate team for further assistance.

When opening a support ticket, please make sure the Support Assistant (AI) in the Help panel is turned Off. Several customers have reported that the Contact Support option may not appear while the Support Assistant is enabled. Once the AI assistant is turned off, you should be able to enter a description of the issue and the Contact Support option will appear, allowing you to submit a ticket directly to Microsoft Support.

Alternatively, you may contact Microsoft Support by phone using the regional support numbers listed here: Contact Microsoft customer support | Microsoft Support

When you call the support number, you may first hear a recorded introduction for approximately 30 seconds mentioning online support resources. You can simply wait for the menu options to begin. Then select "1" as a business email user and "1" again for technical support. This should help route your call to the appropriate support team more quickly.

I hope this information helps. If you encounter any difficulties creating the support request or reaching the support team, please let me know and I'll be happy to assist further.

Kind regards,

I tried to phone UK Admin support today but the robot cut me off. Apparently I need some sort of reference to gain business support.

    Hello Daniel Keating

    Thank you for your question.

First, I would like to clarify that there is no direct upgrade path from Microsoft 365 Family to Microsoft 365 Business Basic. These are separate products designed for different types of users, and they operate under different account and subscription systems. If you would like to move to a business subscription, you would need to purchase a Microsoft 365 Business plan separately: Microsoft 365 Business Plans and Pricing

Regarding the domain transfer, I think it would be helpful to better understand your current setup before recommending specific steps.

Could you please clarify whether the domain is simply registered or hosted through Google, or whether it is currently being used with any Google services such as Google Workspace?

If the domain is only registered with Google (as the domain registrar) and is not actively tied to another email service, you can generally purchase your Microsoft 365 Business subscription and add the domain to Microsoft 365 by verifying ownership and updating the required DNS records.

For reference: Add a Custom Domain to Microsoft 365 - Microsoft 365 admin

However, if the same domain is currently being used with Google Workspace or another email service, additional steps may be required before moving the services to Microsoft 365. Because domain and email migrations can affect mail flow and user access, I would recommend working directly with Microsoft Support to avoid any unintended configuration changes.

A support engineer can review your specific environment and provide step-by-step guidance based on how the domain is currently configured. You can contact Microsoft Support using the guidance: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

This approach is usually the safest option when moving a domain between services, as the support team can help ensure that the transition is performed correctly and minimize the risk of email disruption.

I hope the information provided is helpful. If you need any further assistance or have additional questions regarding your migration plans, please feel free to let me know and I'll be happy to help where I can.

    Kind regards,
