Touchpad warranty

I recently received a warranty replacement laptop (refurbished 35 charge cycles), but I’ve noticed an issue with the touchpad. The left and right sides have noticeably different click pressure and sound, with one side feeling much “clickier” than the other. This was present from the moment I unboxed the device. I also checked the battery report and found the unit has 35 charge cycles, which makes me think it may be refurbished. I’m wondering if this kind of uneven touchpad clicking is considered a hardware defect and whether I should request another replacement after my exams were finished. Should i take a video of my defective touchpad now as I got it yesterday to prove that I didn't break it just in case Microsoft asks?

Yes — take that video today, and don't wait until after exams to open the case.

Show the shipping label or box with date, and the Surface's serial number on screen or via Settings > System > About.

Do side-by-side clicks (left corner vs right corner) with the mic close enough to catch the sound difference.

Mention the charge-cycle count on screen (from the battery report) as supporting context that it's refurbished.

Either way, it's a hardware/build-quality issue, not user damage, and it's exactly the kind of thing warranty replacements are supposed to catch in QC and often don't.
