I have a message when I edit Rules in Outlook that there are rules created in a different version of Outlook. How can I find them?

Hi @Chris Walker,

Based on your description, the rule was likely created or modified in Outlook on the web or New Outlook. Because certain rule conditions and actions are handled differently in those experiences, Classic Outlook may not be able to display them in the Rules and Alerts dialog.

In this case, the rule still exists, but its configuration cannot be shown in Classic Outlook. This behavior is expected and is by design.

Microsoft has documented this behavior in the following article: Inbox rule in Outlook on the web doesn't appear in Outlook for Windows - Outlook | Microsoft Learn

In these cases, Microsoft recommends using Outlook on the web or New Outlook for Windows to view, edit, run, or delete the rules that don't appear in Classic Outlook.

As a quick test, you can try signing in to Outlook on the web, navigate to Settings > Mail > Rules, and review whether the missing rules are listed there.

Just as a brief note, this is a user-to-user support forum, so I'm not part of the Outlook product team and don't have the ability or permissions to change existing product designs or behaviors. You can think of me as a fellow community member doing my best to help clarify what's happening behind the scenes so you can better understand the behavior and hopefully avoid spending additional time troubleshooting something that is actually working as designed.

I greatly appreciate your understanding and your openness to considering the information I've researched and shared.

Thank you, and I hope this helps clarify what you're seeing.
