Storing documents locally or in cloud services like OneDrive from within Microsoft Teams
Hi Jonathan,
From what I see:
- The recording is still accessible and playable.
- You can see the expiration countdown (32 days).
- The Share menu only shows Share, Copy link, and Embed options, no Download option.
- The Teams recap page also doesn't expose a download action.
This usually means you are not the recording owner.
For Teams recordings stored in OneDrive/SharePoint, the people who can normally download the recording are the meeting organizer and the person who started the recording. Other attendees may be able to watch the recording but not download it.
Additionally, a recording can be shared with you for viewing without granting download rights. This is a common scenario when recordings are stored in OneDrive or SharePoint.
- Select Open in SharePoint or Open in OneDrive (if available).
- In the recording page, select Manage Access.
- Check whether you are:
- The owner,
- An editor,
- Or a viewer only.
If you are not the owner, contact the meeting organizer or the person who recorded the meeting and ask them to grant you edit/download permissions; or download the MP4 and share it with you directly.
I hope this provides enough clarity and helps you stay inform with your current situation.
